Sending videos on Whatsapp is one of the worst choices one could make. However, it’s useful when you’re in hurry and don’t care about the quality. Because Whatsapp’s powerful video compressor algorithm turns a high-quality video into a scrappy piece of s#it. Therefore, my team and I never share videos on Whatsapp, instead, we use Gmail, drive, and other third-party apps.
However, this knack could disappear sooner or later as Whatsapp is testing a new feature. Users can choose whether they want to decrease their video quality or send it in its regular resolution. A leak recently reported by WABetainfo suggests that users will be able to share videos in “Best Quality” mode, “Data Saver” mode, and an auto mode that automatically compresses your video in different qualities.
This new feature could be a blessing in disguise for many Whatsapp users who reluctantly use other apps to send videos in their original quality. Although, not every Whatsapp user wants to share videos of their best quality and many of us merely share content for fun. However, people who were forced to share a downgraded video with their friends could make themselves happy after this update.
Apart from this, the leak hasn’t confirmed how the “Best Quality” mode will work. Whether it’ll allow users to share videos in their original quality or eventually this mode will also downgrade the quality of your video for the sake of rapid share.
It remains to be seen, but, it’s expected that videos like 4K & 8K will face some sort of compression as those videos are gargantuan. And needs a powerful network connection on both sides.
As the leak suggests, the feature is only on testing mode and will take time to reach our smartphones. And who knows, which Whatsapp update will roll out this feature for users.
