Instagram New Feature Will Translate Text Into Your Preferred Language, But Only In
Instagram is here to surprise its loyal customers again. A recent announcement through their blog post confirms that now Instagram can translate text into users’ preferred languages. The Facebook-owned photo-video sharing platform is known for its diversity and its engaging community. Instagram allows users to share and write content in their own languages like Hindi, Mandarin, Japanese, French, and more.
This dynamic language support lets users share content in various languages. And people who know only one or two languages can’t translate those in-picture texts easily. So to make our lives easier, Instagram is now able to translate text in users’ preferred languages but merely in Instagram Stories.
Although, the feature is still limited in the Instagram Stories but sooner or later, they’ll start translating videos as they’re already generating captions through their AI in IGTV videos.
While announcing the feature, the Instagram team wrote “When you’re watching a story with text, you’ll get a ‘See Translation’ notice if your set language is different from the one in the story. Just tap it and a translation will pop up.“
According to The Verge, Instagram has only introduced this feature for its Stories. And audio translation isn’t supported yet and might take some time to get released. However, the Story translation feature is gradually rolling out and will be available worldwide as soon as possible.
This language translation feature could translate up to 90 different languages like Hindi, Portuguese, Japanese, Arabic, and the list goes on.
Apart from this, Instagram also introduced a new feature that restricts sensitive posts to appear on your feed. This step is to prevent those posts to appear on your feed that you don’t find interesting and disgusting. Instagram wrote “Today we’re launching Sensitive Content Control on Instagram, which allows you to decide how much sensitive content shows up in Explore. We believe people should be able to shape Instagram into the experience that they want. We’ve started to move in this direction with tools like the ability to turn off comments or Restrict someone from interacting with you on Instagram.”
